Voices in the Sand

I can't wait for the next Sydney Teague adventure!
Sydney Teague's adventure in this book has it all! The touches of history, romance, science, sport and evil make this mystery a great read. I could not put it down. I loved the descriptions of the geography, people, food and weather in this book. I was so inspired, I actually bugged my husband for a week to move to a beach town. Sydney is a woman who truly lives life. How often does a woman have the chance to win the trust and respect of a childhood crush, go on a dangerous adventure, in a beautiful place, preserve the past and save lives? Never. . . . . Well, I just did through the writing of Anne Grant.

Anne Underwood Grant's Best Work Yet !
I followed Sydney Teague from Charlotte to Murrell's Inlet, which is very familiar territory to me. With wonderful description, this book kept me waiting and rushing as I read, unable to put it down. I found myself woven into the plot with Sydney, as she and old fiend, OC, set out to solve a murder in the swampy, spooky areas along the coastline. I have purchased and read all of Grant's Sydney Teague Series, but this one is definately her best work yet. I will never visit the coast without thinking about this book and looking over my shoulder!!!

Wow! What a thriller!
VOICES IN THE SAND just hit our stores here and I picked it up because I found the cover frightening and intriguing. I thought I would spend the weekend reading it. I finished at 4 AM Saturday morning. My, what a fast, rollercoaster of a ride this book is. Suspenseful and atmospheric, the SC coast stars in this one, although I really liked the Teague character and the grizzled ex-cop named O.C. I'd love to see it a movie!

All I Ever Needed To Know I Learned On My Mission

The best bunch of Christmas stories I've ever read.
I couldn't put it down. The stories are without exception warm and meaningful. I am giving this book to my grandchildren. Sharing these stories is sharing the best of Christmas with them.

A Great Holiday Addition!!
This is a great Christmas Book to add to your Christmas book collection. The stories in this book are inspirational and full of the Christmas spirit. This is a book that the entire family will enjoy!!

The Best of Christmas
Most collections of stories, Christmas or otherwise, have a bunch of mediocre selections, a few good ones, and one or two great ones--but this book manages to have ALL great ones. Plus, they're not those sappy ones that make you roll your eyes; they're touching without being obnoxious. Maybe it's because almost all of the stories are true experiences, told in a straightforward way. My personal favorites are "The Gold and Ivory Tablecloth" by Howard Schade, "A Christmas Gift I'll Never Forget" by L.D. Hummel, and "My Christmas Miracle" by Taylor Caldwell. Okay, also "How Santa Spread Cheer Without Eight Tiny Reindeer," by Rip Rense. (I'm a school teacher, and I'm going to read some of these to my third graders in December.) Enjoy the joy!

The Art & Technique of Underwater Photography

Authors: Mark Webster and Grant Bradford

great!
i've taken a few pictures before ive gotten this book. but i loved the way it broke down everything and basically taught u from scratch. everything u need to know about underwater photography. when i got this book it was my bible for about a year i read it in and out multiple times and still use it today as a reference. i think the best part about this book is the pictures. and the fact that he tells u different techniques and shows how it ends up on the exposure. and how every single picture in the book (hundreds) was obtained, from shutter speed to strobe setting was also very helpful. lots of time underwater and film was used to make this book. i suggest this book to anyone who is even thinking of taking a camera below the surface. or someone who already has. because of this my photoalbum is stunning and better than i ever thought it could be.

All-in-one for beginning as well as advanced photographers.
As an amateur surface photographer, I truly enjoyed reading this book. It provides me comprehensive basic knowledge on the subject as well as more in-depth knowledge to build on down the road. The photos throughout the book greatly help convey the author's ideas and the readers to quickly grasp the concept. I recommend this book to anyone considering taking up underwater photography. Note: Since the book was written by a British author, at the beginning I was bit confused with the measuring system (meters instead of feet) and the currency (pounds instead of US dollars). To know the conversion rate at the start would be very helpful.

Beautifully illustrated book
With over 250 photographs and illustrations, each with a fully detailled description on strobe and apperture settings. If you own a housed camera, this book is a must.

Born to Raise
This is a great book for fundraisers of all levels. It is more like a self-help book than a fundraising book. I agree with all who said this is not a how-to book, but a go-for-it book. Highly recommended.

Looking towards the Future!
As a young person looking towards moving actively into fundrasing, I appreciated this book alot. It gave me the encouragement I needed to stick it out, and understand that its not as easy as it looks, but I can do it. This isn't a how-to-book, its more of a "You can do it!" book.

Looking forward to the future!
As a younger person wanting to move into fundrasing into the future this book gave me the encouragement that I needed to stick with it! Its not a how to do book its a I can book!

Breath Of Heaven
Published in Hardcover by W Publishing Group (08 October, 2001)
Author: Amy Grant

What an experience!
First of all, the song is one of the most beautiful songs ever written! I am not exaggerating. The first time I heard it, I cried. Growing up Catholic, this song meant so much but it doesn't matter what denomination you are affiliated with. We all understand the fear and struggle when asked to follow God's plan but we know that he will bring us through. That is what this song is about. It is one of the most beautiful Christmas songs ever written!

The story that Amy Grant writes to accompany the song is heart-wrenching. It's a modern-day version of the song. This song will bring comfort to anyone going through trials. This is an especially great gift fot expecting mothers.

I highly recommend this CD/book to all customers. It also makes a very nice and unique gift. It's for both the music lover and book lover.

Breath of Heaven
I was introduced to the song my senior year of high school when my choir sang it for the yearly High School Christmas concert. The teacher spent a class prior to the concert explaining the meaning of the song. I, and many others, were humbled when we discovered the power of the message that we were conveying. On the night of the concert it took all my skill as a singer not to cry as I sang the song. Just this last christmas I recieved the book and CD from my grandma. Even though I recieved several great gifts, it was this book and CD that touched me the deepest. The book gave the song a greater depth and meaning, and hearing the song again was a magnificent experience. I would recommend this book to everyone, but especially to women. It offers a message of strength and hope in uncertain times.

Beautiful book
I received this book in the mail and was excited about it because I had not really wanted to spend the money on it, but did want to read it. I have to say I was nearly brought to tears and certainly humbled by the experience of reading Amy's words and listening to her beautiful song in which she pays such a loving and reverent tribute to Mary. I remember Amy saying once at a concert just before she sang the song "Mary was not better than anyone else...she was just willing." I STRONGLY urge you to read this book and then sit and listen to the song while looking at the incredible illustrations.

Way of Wisdom: Meditations on Love and Service
Published in Paperback by Swedenborg Foundation (September, 1999)
Authors: Emanuel Swedenborg, Grant R. Schnarr, and Erik J. Buss
Average review score:

daily pauses
When I need to center myself, or be inspired, and especially if I just have one minute before moving on to the next thing on my list of things to do, a quick reading from Way of Wisdom is perfect. It is just enough of a thought to keep my mind active and growing, but doesn't take much time. It is a good pick-me-up in down times, and the notes in the back are great when I want to explore an idea further. If you want small thoughts from Swedenborg, this is the book to try!

So Refreshing
This book is a must read. It contains some of the most useful and applicable spiritual guidelines that I have ever run across. It contains simple, easy to understand concepts about real life--relationships, marriage, the afterlife, prayer, selfishness, giving, guilt, usefulness, the list goes on. The format is easy to read and easy to understand, and the content is amazingly helpful. This is not one of those silly entertaining and yet useless life guides. It is a down to earth, realistic resource of ideas as to how to enrich your life.

Glimpses of Heaven
This book has gotten me through so much! I open it up when I need a little inspiration and always find a passage that speaks to where I'm at. I also love the comentary at the back. It really helps dig deeper into the passages by Emanuel Swedenborg. I highly recommend this books for anyone who wants some spirituality in their day.

The Best Kind of Loving : A Black Woman's Guide to Finding Intimacy
Published in Hardcover by HarperCollins (February, 1995)
Author: Gwendolyn Goldsby Grant
Average review score:

An excellent reference
Essence Magazine's long-time advice columnist Dr. Gwendolyn Goldsby Grant counsels Black women on everything from finances to relationships in this book. This book offers the type of sound, no-nonsense advice you might expect to hear from your mother -- especially when she advises us not to make decisions while lying our backs!

She encourages readers to examine their lives truthfully and to try to understand the motivation for the decisions that we make. The discussion about finances talks about how we sometimes spend money that we don't have to bolster our flagging spirits.

The greatest lesson I took from the book is the importance of putting all relationships, not just romantic ones, into perspective. This book explains the importance of establishing and maintaning good relationships with our creator, ourselves, family members and significant others. This book is a classic and belongs in the library of any woman trying to make her way in this world.

A must have for those who settle for less
Dr. Grant is definitely a God sent messenger at this hour for the Woman (not just African American, even though we need to take heed so we can get ourselves together). This book has taught me to settle for nothing but the best.( Not that i settled for less) but sometimes in this walk of life because we don't find what we are looking for when we want it, we sometimes give up on our initial hopes and dreams and start to have a pity party. and thus begin to settle for anything( Things that are not for us). This book puts a stop in this area( If you are receptive to it). For anyone tired of settling for garbage YOU NEED TO GET THIS BOOK. NO JOKE! I'm not just telling you this just for the sake of it. I'm telling you this because you are my SISTER and i want you to move to the next level. God BLess!

The Mind Blower
The Best Kind of Loving gave this reader a new sense of respect for Black Women that previously had been absent. The author is one of the brightest minds to come along in this century, she should have her own television program to reach a greater audience. You go girl.

A Body to Dye for
Published in Hardcover by St. Martin's Press (June, 1990)
Author: Grant Michaels
Average review score:

Highly recommended
Humourous & funny, interesting mystery, light entertaiment, perfect for vacations.

So Much Fun!
What a fun read! I really enjoyed this book. Fast paced and funny, Grant Michaels has created a great character. I could not put this book down, as I wanted to get onto the others in the series.

Great series
Just think Jessica Fletcher and turn her into a gay male hairdresser. Stan unwillingly becomes involved to help a detective solve a murder. Over the series, he develops a unrequited attraction to the detective providing for the intensity of an otherwise light-hearted series of books. Whatever happens next, we will be entertained.
